InGaAs cameras act very much like a home video camera, but allow users to "see" objects invisible to the human eye. Short wave applications include covert surveillance with active or passive illumination, missile tracking, hyperspectral imaging, Optical Coherence Tomography, industrial process monitoring, free space telecommunications, and laser beam profiling.
